Duszniki-Zdrój is a tourism pearl of the Lower Silesia. Located at the confluence of three mountain ranges is a perfect starting point for further and longer mountain hikes. Not too high but charming and extensive peaks, lush and wild in many spots, kilometres of routes with breath-taking sights-all this awaits in Duszniki and its vicinity the tourists at each age.
Duszniki-Zdroj are located on the Sudetes Horse-riding Route. This area is a perfect place for horse-riding – Orlickie and Bystrzyckie Mountains on account of gentler landforms and the available infrastructure are good for larger horse escapades, as well as for starting practising horse-riding. In Duszniki-Zdroj there are two equestrian centres: The Grylówka Rancho and the Panderoza Rancho.
The first hostel in the place of today’s building was built as early as in the first half of the 19th century. The place was eagerly visited by the inhabitants of Duszniki-Zdroj and the surrounding areas, the tourists and numerous patients of resorts arriving in this area. All the more, that a picturesque panorama of the nearest mountains spreads from the hostel- mainly Stołowe Mountains. Today, the hostel possesses 14 rooms, 50 beds, offering tasty, regional cuisine.
It is one of the oldest buildings in the Sudety mountains, the story of which probably reaches back to 1878. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the guests were accommodated in typical Gasthäuser. After the end of World War II the hostel functioned under the name “Wrona” after the surname of its first proprietor. Today, it possesses 34 bed places in 2,3,4-bedded rooms, it also offers tasty cuisine for tourists. Furthermore, it is a good lodging place in the winter season due to the fact that it is located in the heart of Zieleniec Ski Arena skiing station.
Located in the Czech Republic, the mountain hostel is situated at the height of 1019 metres (near the Polish border). The history of this unique building reaches back to the year 1925. However, the wooden cabins had been built in these areas since the first half of the 19th century (around the year 1844). Due to the fact that the hostel is located near Zieleniec, it is worth visiting – both during the summer, as well as during the winter season.
One of the main Polish tourist trails. It goes from Swieradów-Zdroj to Prudnik, marked as a red trail, its length reaching 440 kilometres. In the area of Duszniki -Zdroj it runs on the route: Gomola – Duszniki-Zdroj – Kozia Hala– Pod Sołtysią Kopą– Kamień Rübartscha–Orlica Hostel– Przełęcz pod Uboczem– Pod Uboczem (The out-of-the-way place) –The Jagodna Hostel. Making one’s way through this entire trail is a challenge in itself not only in tourism terms but also in logistical ones.
Canoeing is mostly associated with Masuria. However, the canoeing on the Dzika Orlica delivers similar sensations, in an equally remarkable and charming scenery. With the canoe we can sail from close by Zieleniec Mostowice and end the trip in Lesica. Over 3-hours long, quite demanding water raid will surely raise our adrenaline level, especially taking into account the fact that in many places the river is not regulated and its gradient is around 8 percent.
Park Zdrojowy, Orlickie and Bystrzyckie Mountains, many didactic trails – all of them are perfect places for practising Nordic walking. Regardless of the time of the year, age and the current condition this type of physical activity is always advised. The unique Duszniki micro-climate, which significantly raises the effectiveness of exercises, is in favour of such practices. It also positively influences the physical and mental state.
Diverse topography of area of the mountains surrounding Duszniki-Zdrój and hills are a perfect place for mountain cycling, when it comes to both its mountain and road types. Fans of the former type should select spines of mountains where steep ramps and downhills will provide enough adrenaline for the most eager ones. Lovers of road cycling will appreciate positions of routes around Dusznikach-Zdrój and cities, towns and villages neighbouring with it.
